KC - Maria Kristina Cassandra Cuneta Concepcion

KC - Maria Kristina Cassandra Cuneta Concepcion

Maria Kristina Cassandra Cuneta Concepcion simply known as KC, Born on April, 7, 1985.  Being born from two stars Gabby Concepcion and Mega Star Sharon Cuneta.

KC’s career has been cemented in the showbiz industry from the moment the mega star announced her pregnancy. But being born from two stars didn’t guarantee a smooth sailing career for the child star. Several renowned film critics have commented on her acting skills by saying that she’s not half her mother as an actress. She has indeed big shoes to fill and for several years now, she’s been trying to do so only that the shoe doesn’t seem to fit at all. From teenybopper flicks in the big screen to big roles in heavy dramas, KC strives to prove her critics wrong by trying to be in a different league from her parents.

How can you escape the eyes of the public when you’ve been born in the limelight? As much as she tries to keep her life private, the spotlight seems to follow her every move. Rumors that ranges from being a drug addict to having lesbian relations has been propagated since she left for Italy to study. All these were of course denied and those who can prove or disprove these claims were silenced.

The twitterverse has been filled with reactions and comments about KC Concepcion’s recent stint in The Buzz. Her being emotional captured the hearts of millions of viewers for not only were they able to relate, but because KC subtly dropped a bomb about her last hubby, Piolo Pascual. According to the press, she insinuated that the Philippines’ heartthrob and number 1 endorser might be a homosexual. It didn’t actually surprise many for this rumor has been around for quite some time now. By saying that she gave all she could but there’s only one thing that she couldn’t give to Piolo, people immediately assumed that it was KC’s way of admitting that her boyfriend is indeed gay. It may be done out of retaliation or that the young actress was just merely stating a fact. Nevertheless it was open to interpretation and it seems as if only interpretation was made of that statement.

How could someone like KC Concepcion, a daughter of two renowned actors have such bitter fate? It only proves that beauty and birthright can only go so far. But the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree now does it? Mega star had her share of bad relationships and criticisms as well during her prime. But after decades of being in the industry, she has proven her staying power and has left a big mark in showbiz. All we can do now is to wait till all this hype about her breakup is over and see how well this demigod can rise up again. KC Concepcion is first and foremost the daughter of one of the goddesses in the film industry; therefore, we can expect nothing but great things from her. As for Piolo Pascual, may he be straight, gay or bisexual, the truth remains that he’s one of the most sought after actors in the country today. The truth will surely come out in time, as it always does.

Emmanuel Dapidran Pacquiao Biography (Manny Pacquiao)

Pacman: The Boxing Legend

Before Manny Pacquiao goes inside the ring to face Juan Manuel Marquez for the third time, Pacman is already driving his $240,000 gray Ferrari 458 Italia, a sports car having 570 horsepower V8 engine, which is said to be his gift to himself. The new acquisition is an addition to his Cayenne Turbo, Chevrolet Suburban, Mitsubishi Grandis, Lincoln Navigator, Mercedes-Benz SLK, Ford Expedition, Mitsubishi Pajero V6, Hyundai Santa Fe and Toyota pickup truck.

The pound-per-pound best boxer of the world is set to face Marquez on November 12, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and is guaranteed to pocket $20 million, not to mention share in pay-per-view earnings, live attendance receipts and others. The controversial fights in 2004 and 2008, awaits the world in anticipation to the explosive trilogy match that it almost sold out all the tickets on its first day sale.
The pride of General Santos City, born on December 17, 1978, Manny started his boxing career in the light flyweight division and would usually appear in the now defunct TV show “Blow by Blow” by Vintage Sports on local Philippine channel IBC 13. On 22 January 1995, Pacquiao faced Edmund Ignacio in his professional debut, winning via decision. He lost to Rustico Torrecampo in a third-round KO but continued undefeated in the next 15 fights afterward.

He took the Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation Flyweight title after knocking out Chokchai Chokvivat in the fifth round of their match. Manny then won the Lineal and World Boxing Council Flyweight World titles by beating Chatchai Sasakul in an eighth-round KO. He lost the Lineal title to Medgoen Singsurat when he got knocked out on the third round. Pacquiao also lost the WBC title when he exceeded the required weight limit of 112 pounds at the scales.

Gaining further weight and bypassing the super flyweight and bantamweight divisions, Manny won against Reynante Damili, picking up the WBC Super Bantamweight International title in the process. He went on to defend this title a total of five times. And on 23 June 2011, Pacquiao got his second major boxing world title by winning against Lehlohonolo Ledwaba by technical knockout and getting the International Boxing Federation Junior Featherweight World title. He defended this title a total of four times with the help of Wild Card Gym owner Freddie Roach.
Fighting for the first time in the featherweight class on 15 November 2003, Manny fought against Marco Antonio Barrera and was able to defeat him via an eleventh-round technical KO. This made him the first Filipino and Asian to become a world champion in three different divisions. He then challenged Juan Manuel Marquez for the WBA and IBF Featherweight World titles on 8 May 2004. The match, however, ended in a controversial draw.

Moving up to the next weight class, Manny fought against Erik Morales on 19 March 2005 for the WBC International and IBA Super Featherweight titles. He lost in a unanimous decision after 12 matches by the judges. He then faced Hector Velasquez for the WBC Super Featherweight belt on 10 September 2005 which he won. Pacquiao faced Morales again on 21 January 2006 and this time he won the match in the tenth round when he was able to knock out Morales. They fought a third time on 18 November 2006 with the match ending in Manny's favor. Pacquiao further defended these titles against Jorge Solis, Joan Guzman as well as Barrera and Marquez in rematches on June 2007 and March 2008 respectively.

On 28 June 2008, Manny faced David Diaz in the ring for the WBC Lightweight World title. He won the match as well making him the first Filipino and Asian to become a world champion in five different divisions. It was also during this period when, in 7 August 2008, he was given a plaque of recognition by the members of the Philippine Congress and was hence recognized and dubbed as the “People's Champ” for his achievement and in appreciation to the honor he brought to Filipinos and the country.

This was when the “Dream Match” happened. It was in this weight class where Manny fought against Oscar De La Hoya, the six-division world champion boxer on 6 December 2008. The supposed to be 12-round match ended during the eighth round when De La Hoya's corner was forced to throw in the towel since Pacquiao was clearly dominating the match, giving Manny the win by technical KO. De La Hoya eventually announced his retirement from boxing well after the match. This fight garnered the second highest revenue in boxing history.
Fighting in the next weight division for the first time, many were thinking twice if Manny could outmatch Ricky Hatton in their fight dubbed as “The Battle of the East and the West.” However, Pacquiao proved his critics wrongs when he was able to win via KO and claimed the IBO and The Ring Junior Welterweight World titles. This made him the second fighter in boxing history to become a six-division world champion and the first boxer to win Lineal titles in four different classes.

The year 2011 saw Manny's return to the welterweight division with his fight against Shane Mosley last 7th of May. He successfully defended his welterweight title in this match.

Will the November 12 fight against Marquez be the mark of his retirement from boxing career? He already expressed his intent years back but then the fights continued. Pacman, the Mexicutioner, can only tell when.

Ms. Shamcey Supsup : "Tsunami Catwalk"

Tsunamis may have been termed for devastating tidal waves but Shamcey’s “tsunami catwalk,” which was a term coined by her trainer, will always be remembered especially by beauty pageant enthusiasts. According to them, walking this way demonstrates skill and talent because she has to keep the shoulder steady as her hips sway.

Ms. Shamcey Supsup is the current Bb. Pilipinas-Universe titlist who represented the Philippines during the 2011 Ms. Universe pageant held in Sao Paolo, Brazil last September. She went on to win as the top fan favorite in an online poll for the question and answer portion, placed second best in the long gown or evening wear portion, and eventually bagged third runner-up overall by the end of the competition.

Born Shamcey Gurrea Supsup on May 16, 1986 to parents Timoteo and Marcelina in Iligan City, Shamcey grew up helping her father tend to their family’s farm and livestock while her mother worked overseas and/or out of town as an engineer. This exposed the young beauty-queen-to-be on the values of hard work and discipline, the very same values that she still carries with her today. The family eventually moved to General Santos City when she was about three years old.

Young Shamcey attended the Notre Dame of General Santos (previously known as Notre Dame of Lagao) in her primary level where she was the valedictorian of her class. She went to the Mindanao State University High School in the first year of secondary school and transferred to the Makati City High School when her mother got assigned in Filinvest Alabang. This time, she graduated as the class salutatorian. Shamcey was also reputed to be quite studious and a bibliophile at school.

In college, taking inspiration from her mother, Shamcey studied Architecture at the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City. Not only did she get a Bachelor’s degree but also graduated magna cum laude as well. And a year later at the June 2010 Architect Licensure Examination given by the Board of Architecture, she finished at the top spot out of the total 2,130 examinees who passed, no less than number one at that, with a good average of 86.60 points.

Supup was 24 years old when she joined the Bb. Pilipinas pageant on April 10, 2011 at the Araneta Coliseum held in Cubao, Quezon City. There were 40 contenders hailing from different parts of the country and from Filipino communities around the world. With her height of 5’7 ¼, comely proportions of 32 ½ - 23 ½ - 33 1/2 and sharp intellect, Shamcey proved her worth, winning the Bb. Pilipinas-Universe crown as well as Ms. Talent and Ms. Philippine Airlines respectively.

Filipinos love their beauty queens like sports heroes. Shamcey will be forever in our hearts as she placed the country on the limelight following Venus Raj making it to the top five for two straight years.

Nora Aunor, Ever Shining Superstar : Biography

When Maria Leonora Teresa Cabaltera a.k.a. Nora Aunor defied the mestiza concept of the Philippine cinema in the late 1960s, it was a sensation. A typical small kayumanggi from Iriga, Camarines Sur had conquered the world of show business where mixed blood and fair complexion were everybodyís semblance that was absolutely adored by the public. She defiled the concept, making an enduring difference in the face of the silver screen.

Born in May 21, 1955, Nora Aunor started out at the age 13 with the most prestigious amateur singing contest from the '50s to the early '70s, Tawag ng Tanghalan. The first attempt, however, was a failure. Challenged by the sad fate, she determinedly joined the competition again the year after. She consistently won for 14 consecutive weeks, which eventually catapulted her to the championship crown in 1968, singing Moonlight Becomes You.

As a newly declared champion, Nora Aunor began guesting in Oras Ng Ligaya on Channel 13 and Operatang Putol-Putol aired in DZXL. She also recorded her albums, Nora Aunor Sings: Mga Awiting Pilipino, Awit ng Puso, Mga Awiting Pamasko and Ang Tindera, which were huge hits. Because of these successes, the new singing star caught the fancy of the bigwigs at Sampaguita Pictures, and the rest was history.

To date, not a single actress can equal Nora's achievements, even rival Vilma Santos. As the Superstar, she has the most "First" in Philippine Cinema. Winning the Best Actress in Cairo for the movie Flor Contemplacion Story in 1995, Nora is the first Filipino actor to win in a major international film festival. Her role in the movie Himala proclaimed her as the first and only Filipino to receive a nomination for prestigious Berlin International Film Festival in 1983. Selected as a juror in the Hawaii Film Festival in 1996, Nora Aunor was the first Filipino international juror actress. The 2010 Green Planet Film Awards in Hollywood also proclaimed Nora Aunor as one of the 10 Best International Actresses of the Decade in Asia.

Speaking about box office hits in the local scene, Nora Aunor is the queen of all queens. She was the first actress hailed as the Box Office Queen of Philippine Cinema in 1971. Bagging the Best Actress in the Film Academy of the Philippines for three consecutive years from 1989 to 1991 and achieving the second grand slam in 1990 as the Best Actress of Urian, Star, FAMAS, FAP and MMFF makes here even more unbeatable. And a lot can still be enumerated.

Nora Aunor's success in the movie industry and her contribution to the arts was recognized by the Cultural Center of the Philippines, which awarded her with the Centennial Honors for the Arts, given only to 100 Filipinos who left important notes to the countryís culture and arts in the 20th century.

What made Nora Aunor an ever shining Superstar? It is her charisma and magnetizing appeal to the masses. In her absence and homecoming, the interests in her had not faded one bit. Even the younger generations got curious about her. The ever loyal Noranians of countless numbers are again rejuvenated by her return. It simply manifests that Nora is still phenomenal and still shines brightly as the countryís one and only Superstar.
