Gwendoline Ruais: Beauty and Brain
Talk about the first Miss World Philippines Gwendoline Ruais, she is determined to bring home the crown for the first Filipina Miss World title holder to be staged on November 6 in London. Born from a half Filipino father and mother, she recalled that her childhood has been an exciting activity, which many kids can only dream of. She already had traveled in many parts of the world at the age 20. The opportunity of enjoying what the world can offer has made the newly crowned beauty queen appreciate all the blessings of having supportive and loving family, who has provided her with everything she needs and wants. Standing at 5 feet 11 inches tall, Gwendoline has a beautiful mixture of Filipino and French beauty. Her good moral values are from the Filipino ancestry and her liberal mindset from the French lineage.
Gwen as she is fondly called is born in the Philippines. Her father being the manager of Air France in Southeast Asia, she has the opportunity to live from one country to another. At the age two, her family moved to Thailand until she was five, then to France and moved back to the Philippines at 11. Gwen also had the chance of traveling to different countries for vacation, which she said had opened her mind and immerse herself to other different cultures and diversities of each country.
At the young age her parents taught her the first lesson in life. She shared that her dad wants them to be able to manage their own in the future. Even if her dad gives them anything they want, he taught them to never take anything for granted. Her mom, on the flip side, taught them to work hard and persevere in order to succeed in life.
During her teenage years, she said she was too preoccupied with the present, enjoying life to the fullest never minding the future. However, realizing that her mom had proven herself in the modeling was someone to be reckoned with in the industry. Her mother having modeled in Milan, New York and Paris for Givenchy, Yves Saint Laurent, Jean Paul Gaultier and Emanuel Ungaro, Gwen is determined to follow the same footsteps. As the second child of Vincent Ruais and Malou-Ramos Ruais, Gwen graduated with honors in Southville Foreign University with a degree in Business Management and calls the shot to do full-time modeling. Her stint in Super Model of Asia in China last August catapulted her to the Best in Catwalk. She also modeled for garments and makeup and currently under Mercator Model and Artist Management.
